Affiliate marketing has been around for quite some time, but perhaps some of you may not be familiar with the concept behind how it works. Affiliate marketing is an Internet-based business collaboration that involves a merchant and his affiliates. Each affiliate is given a unique affiliate URL by the merchant. Their objective is to have the people in the right target market click on the affiliate URL. From there, the clicker will be brought to the merchant’s sales page. If the clicker buys the product, the affiliate whose URL was clicked on receives a commission from the merchant.

There are many perks to affiliate marketing, not just for the affiliates but also for the merchant. The merchant simply needs to focus on creating and maintaining the product. He does not need to worry too much about exposure and reach because that’s the part his affiliates play. He leverages on the promotional actions that his affiliates embark on, and considering the fact that his affiliates may come from all over the world, he would not be limited to the people on his mailing list, to whom he promotes his products to.

Like I mentioned earlier, an affiliate’s job is to help the merchant with promoting his products. This can be done by list-building, or by advertising, or spreading word on social networks like Facebook or Twitter. An affiliate does not need to worry about product creation. The merchant does the hard part of creating and maintaining the product, which can be a difficult task.

Also, as mentioned earlier, a merchant might have affiliates from all over the world. Now, looking from another point of view, the affiliate might have clickers from all over the world as well. This creates an endless possibility of sales for the merchant and commissions for the affiliates. With the Internet, the world is your market!

Affiliate marketing produces a win-win situation for both the merchant and affiliates. The main benefit is that both parties can work together in capitalizing on a global market. Therefore, affiliate marketing would be a good venture to take on.

It’s no point being a public success if you are a private failure. Look at famous award winning celebrities. They have fame and fortune, but that does not necessarily mean they lead happy lives. They could be divorced, or they could be married with children who wonder where their mommy or daddy is all the time. They may be rich and famous but also be addicted to drugs or alcohol.

If success comes at a time when the person is not ready to receive it, it can kill him/her.

Do not despise your learning journeys to success. It is better to enjoy good success.

I want to add on to what I wrote in that post. Here’s another way to put it. One should experience personal and private success before having public success.

If you are in debt, you should think about getting out of debt before becoming a successful entrepreneur. Choose to go from point A to point B then to point C. Don’t skip point B.

Here’s another analogy. Let’s say you are a tennis player and you are playing in a tournament. Before each tennis match, you will want to psych yourself up to get yourself in the right frame of mind to win. Once have found your “winning attitude”, you would have reached a level of personal and private success.

Next, the only way you can become the champion of the tournament is by winning the matches before the final. In order to win matches, you need to win points. No matter how “big” or “small” the point is, you should try and win every point.

When you win matches and get to the final, you have the chance to enlarge your success. If you win the final, you become the champion and you thus have a bigger form success. You may even become famous. That would be public success.

Notice that you have to first succeed in getting the right mentality, followed by winning whatever points you can. If you succeed in winning enough points, you’ll eventually win the match. The process repeats until you reach the final. My point is, it simply started with having the right mentality before the match started. That would have been private success.

You’re not ready for big success until you’ve had small success.

What do I mean by big and small success?

To me, big success is the type that makes you exalts you in the presence of many people. It is the type of success that gets you recognized by others as a “guru”, or a “maestro”, or “someone with mad skills or talents”. While this kind of success is good, I believe that it is important to first experience success in the small things in life. That’s what I call small success.

It is the small matters that count.

For example, do you have a problem with being on time for an appointment? Do you lack self-discipline? Do you procrastinate easily? In my opinion, such issues often separate the very successful people from the not-so-successful people. If you do not know how to deal with a small issue such as being lazy, how then will you be able to deal with bigger responsibilities that are involved in life, such as being a parent, a husband/wife, paying the bills, etc? If you want to be an Internet marketer, how will you be able to manage your time if you cannot turn up on time for appointments?

Let the little moments of “wins” add up to your experiences of small success. Do not be discouraged by your small beginnings, because there is room for them to grow. Celebrate every moment you make a small success, such as being punctual, getting a task accomplished and being diligent. Examine the areas in your life that need to be improved, and challenge yourself to improve.

You want to buy that cool gizmo you see at the store, but your parents tell you that they’re not willing to pay for it and that you’ll have to pay for it yourself. Maybe you just want some extra cash for yourself, or maybe your parents have lowered your allowance.

You could choose to save up to buy the items on your wish list, or you could sacrifice your weekends and free time by taking a part-time job somewhere. You could do either, or both. However, there is an ideal solution that teens should really look into.

Introducing affilliate marketing. It is a form of commission-based selling on the Internet. This is what happens. If I am an affiliate, it means that I am promoting a merchant’s products. Usually these products are virtual products like software, ebooks and membership subscriptions. As an affiliate, the merchant provides me with an affiliate link, which is a website address that has my affiliate ID embedded into it. Whoever visits my affiliate link will be brought to the merchant’s sales page. Should the visitor purchase the merchant’s product, the merchant will reward me with a commission.

Here are a few reasons why affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make some extra cash.

1) Flexible working hours.
If you are a student, you definitely should be concentrating on your studies. There is nothing wrong with getting a part-time job somewhere, but sometimes the working hours are not flexible. Even if they are, you may have to sacrifice your nights and weekends.

With that being said, affiliate marketing allows you to work as and when you want to. You can choose to work on your affiliate marketing business after you’ve done your homework, during your free time, or during the weekend. What’s more, you need not spend too much time on it. Just a few hours on it each day would be a good start.

2) You can make money from the comfort of your own home.
You dont have to travel to wherever it is you’re working at. Not only do you get to save on transportation expenses, but you also need not drag yourself to work just to get paid. I want to say something about two tennis players, Lleyton Hewitt and Rafael Nadal. They don’t give up that easily. In fact, I might even say that they never give up.

They never give up, even if they are trailing in a match. It is due to this resilience that they are able to come from behind to win a match.

I admire their fighting spirit. I’ve had my fair share of hardships, but it is during those seasons when I unleash my fighting spirit.

If at first you don’t succeed, keep on trying.

With that being said, I hope that Lleyton Hewitt defeats Roger Federer one day.

Have you watched the new Walmart ad on TV? I thought it gave a few pointers on advertising.

(If you haven’t seen the ad yet, try searching “Walmart Clown Ad” on YouTube.)

For a start, I thought the ad was hilarious (in a slightly sadistic way). Humor is one element that’s good to have when you’re promoting.

Also, if you pay attention to the storyline, it keeps the viewer’s eyes fixed to the screen. There is a slight element of suspense too, especially at the part before clown jumps. When you advertise, you want to make sure you get the viewer’s attention, and keep it too. Nobody would give his/her attention to a boring ad.

Lastly, the ad isn’t forgettable, in my opinion. A few years down the road, I might still associate Walmart with the clown ad. With that said, ads should be made in such a way that people will not forget about it. If you can get people to talk about it, that would be better. Currently there is a buzz on the Walmart clown ad. It was a trending topic on Twitter not too long ago.

Here’s one thing to note. These elements are good to have in your ad, but that does not mean an ad with these 3 elements will bring you a lot of sales. You will have to do your own testing and tracking, but certainly if done correctly, I personally believe a good ad would bring in the sales.

There was another earthquake in Haiti yesterday, or the day before. I can’t remember when.

Hopefully the nation will recover from such a tragedy.

It’s such a great sight to see other countries, celebrities and people unite to help Haiti.

I have not said much about Haiti since the earthquake first struck, but my prayers go out to those who have lost their loved ones in the earthquake.
