Affiliate marketing is a lucrative business opportunity that anyone can take on. However, there are a number of mistakes that many people, especially those who are new in the trade, tend to make. Here are three mistakes which you should avoid in your affiliate marketing business.

Firstly, some affiliate marketers do not have a schedule. Failing to plan means you’re planning to fail. If you play a game without any objective, you might as well not play the game. Same goes for affiliate marketing. It is a legitimate business, so not having a goal would mean that the business would most likely fail. Also, not having a plan may result in procrastination. Imagine this: you could have spent this amount of time doing something productive for your business instead of idling away. Procrastination should definitely be avoided too.

Next, some affiliate marketers promote their affiliate products to a broad and general market instead of a focused niche. In fact, they may even be working on various products from various markets. If you are starting out, it is better for you to narrow down your scope and target a specific group of people rather than throw all your promotional campaigns at a general market, which includes people who have no interest in buying your affiliate product. Seek to become an expert in one area first before moving on to another area.

Lastly, some affiliate marketers do not follow a system that is proven to work. This is a common mistake that any newbies make, and they end up conceding that affiliate marketing is just not suited for them. However, the fault does not lie with the business of affiliate marketing. It lies with the business strategy that they chose to adopt. The best way for a newbie to go about is by learning from a credible coach who has a system that is proven to work. Apply whatever he or she teaches, and ask questions whenever in doubt. In most cases, good coaches produce successful students, who go on to be coaches themselves.

The context here is that we make mistakes and we should learn from them. Alternatively, you could share on what you have learnt either in school, a workshop or from someone that you think has changed or improved you.

Personally I’ve learnt a lot of stuff this year. I didn’t just touch areas on Internet marketing, but also music, marketing and personal development.

I want to talk more about Kanye West today.

As most of us would probably know by now, he ruined Taylor Swift’s moment at the VMAs, when she won an award, and he interrupted her while she was giving her thank you speech.

Mr West had later apologized and admitted he was wrong.

I am a fan of Kanye West, and I thought that what he did to Taylor on stage was wrong. I’m glad he admitted his mistake and apologized to her.

I respect Kanye very much because I’ve heard of how he had to bounce back from a car accident which fractured his jaws. He turned that tragedy into triumph. I don’t care what people say about him after what he did at the VMAs. He is still a successful celebrity, having used the accident as a way of motivating himself to succeed.

I also realized that this incident might actually be good for Mr West, because it might boost his popularity. After the VMAs, I believe that more people started talking about him. This could turn out to be an advantage for him. In fact, I have a feeling he might achieve more success in future, after what has happened to him over the last month or so.

In life, we all make mistakes. What you make out of the mistakes you make is up to you. You could use them to propel you to the top, or you could forever give up on your ambitions.
