E-Commerce
This approach has been around for a very long time. You could set up a website and sell your products on it. Alternatively, instead of setting up your own website, you could set up a blog shop or an eBay store and sell your items there.

However, this approach may not suit everybody because a certain level of business knowledge would be required. It would be important to be well-versed in accounting, stocktaking and purchase returns, just to name a few. If you do not possess these skills, or if you simply want to start simple, you may want to consider the next approach.

Affiliate Marketing
Many Internet marketing gurus say that affiliate marketing is the easiest way to start earning an income online. Basically, affiliate marketing is a commission-based marketing model, where a merchant recruits people known as affiliates to help him promote his products. Each affiliate would be given a unique affiliate URL. Whoever clicks on the unique affiliate URL will be brought to the merchant’s sales page, and should a purchase be made, the affiliate whose unique affiliate URL was clicked on will receive a commission.

Unlike E-Commerce, affiliate marketers need not create their own products. All that is required from them is that they promote the merchant’s products through their affiliate URL. Furthermore, affiliate marketing is newbie friendly, which means that even an Internet newbie can get involved in it.

Advertising Revenue
This approach is done by placing advertisements on your website or blog. Advertisers pay you for every click the advertisements get. Be sure to keep the content on the website or blog interesting, so that people keep coming back for more. Also, ensure that your site’s content is about a specific topic, so that the advertisements that show up will be on that topic, and thus you will get more targeted visits, which would most likely lead to more clicks.

Each of the above approaches have its own perks. Be sure to consider each method and pick one that suits you. Just know that you no longer have to struggle but rather enjoy yourself as you seek to provide some extra cash for the family.

1. A product or service

This is what you’ll be selling. It doesn’t have to be your own product or service. You can sell someone else’s. This would be known as affiliate marketing, whereby the affiliate sells a merchant’s product or service and receives a commission for that sale.

Another point to take note of is that you need not just limit yourself to selling physical products. You can sell virtual products like ebooks too.

2. A website
This could be a blog or just an ordinary page with a sales copy on it. However, don’t just put a sales copy and a check out button on it. Too much selling will make you sound pushy. Be sure to have the next item.

3. A squeeze page and an autoresponder
A squeeze page (also known as an opt-in page) contains a form, asking visitors to subscribe to your emails. Usually this form is provided by an autoresponder. An autoresponder is a program that allows you to email your subscribers automatically.

You’ll need both of these for list building purposes. Cultivate a relationship with people before you sell them anything. This is so that you earn their trust. It is easier for others to buy from someone they trust. Make sure squeeze page grabs attention and stimulates curiosity. Make them want to subscribe to you.

4. Targeted traffic
It is useless to have a really good website but not have any traffic. It’s also equally pointless to have tens of thousands of visitors to your website but none of them come from the target market. Make sure you have targeted traffic coming to your website.

These are the general guidelines to starting an Internet business. It’s not about pushing for a sale. It’s more about developing relationships with people and then getting them to buy from you. If in future you choose to sell another product or service, you need not look for new customers. You can sell it to the list that you had built previously. A relationship with a customer can go a long way.

The reason why there is such an opportunity to make money is because it is how companies conduct their market research. Rather than calling people and asking for their opinion about their products (which may result in the person hanging up), these companies pay people for their opinions.

E-commerce has been around for a long time. It was probably the first ever approach to making money online. Today, E-commerce is still a popular method in which companies use to generate revenue.

E-commerce isn’t just for businessmen. It’s for ordinary people too. If you have an unwanted item at home (like an old guitar which you have not touched for years), you could consider selling it online. It could get you a decent amount of extra cash to spend.

You don’t need to create your own product to be an affiliate marketer. You just need a merchant whose products you can promote. It’s easy to get started on affiliate marketing since you do not need to worry about making your own product.
